Barbara Ann (Brickey) Mitchell, 67, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022, in Vandalia, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 15, 2022, at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church, Vandalia, IL with Father Seth Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with Vigil Prayers at 6:00 PM, Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL and 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM Friday, July 15, 2022 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Mother of Dolors Catholic Church, Vandalia, IL and/or American Stroke Foundation. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. She was born November 21, 1954, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Howard Sutton & Ellen Margaret (Smith) Brickey. Married Lewis A. Mitchell on November 15, 1975, in St. Louis, MO. Barbara was a wife of 46 years, dear sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many; Proud employee of Vandalia Walmart for 28 years, Crane Packing and Fayette County Hospital; Raised Catholic in St. Louis, Missouri; Active member of Mother of Dolors Catholic Church since 1975 and belonged to Our Sorrowful Mother's Ministry; Avid bowler, softball player and Fayette County election judge over the years. Enjoyed watching movies & the St. Louis Cardinals, shopping small businesses, volunteering, donating, visiting Zoos & Botanical Gardens, and spending time with her beloved family. Barbara lived a life of humility, dedication & kindness.

She is survived by: Husband - Lewis Mitchell, Vandalia, IL; Son - Gregory L. Mitchell & Nikki Mae, Decatur, IL; Daughter - Kara E. Gillan, Blue Springs, MO; Granddaughter - Ellie Joyce Mitchell; Brothers & Sisters - Jane Palczynski & Nick, Jim Brickey & Mary, Tom Brickey and John M. Brickey, all of St. Louis, MO and Patricia Blucher, Rochester Hills, MI.
