Amos L. Smith Jr., 78, of Ramsey, IL, died on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey, IL with the Rev. Larry O'Dell officiating. Burial will follow at Ramsey Cemetery, in Ramsey, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, September 14, 2012 at Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, IL. Memorials: American Heart Association and/or ASPCA. He was born on December 31, 1933, in Wood River, IL the son of Amos Lee and Effie L (Lloyd) Smith Sr. He married Madonna Belle Carter on August 8, 1952 in Ramsey, IL. He was a retired dispatcher for Union Pacific Railroad; a former Ramsey Lion and Ramsey City Council member; graduate of Ramsey Grade School; Alton Western Military Academy, Alton IL; and attended U of I School of Engineering for two years. He is survived by wife, Madonna Smith of Ramsey, IL; son: Timothy Smith & Vicki, Chester, IL; daughter: Amy Smith, Maryland Heights, MO. and 3 step grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.
