Martin G. Behrends, 89, of Brownstown, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016, in Vandalia, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, December 23, 2016, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Don Thomas, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held from 6 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL and 1 hr. prior to the service on Friday at the Funeral Home. Memorials: Brownstown United Methodist Church, Brownstown, IL.
He was born October 18, 1927, in Rural Brownstown, IL, the son of John G. & Mary A. (Hobbs) Behrends. Married Norma J. Merryman on November 7, 1948, Vandalia, IL, she passed away August 18, 2010. Martin was formerly employed at Bluff Equip., and later became Owner/Operator of Behrends Sales & Service, Vandalia, IL. He was a Member of Brownstown United Methodist Church, Brownstown, IL.
He is survived by: Sons - Gary Behrends & Carole, Arlington Heights, IL and Mike Behrends & Darla, Oakville, MO; Daughter - Carol Ann Behrends, Brownstown, IL; 7 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; Sister - Elizabeth Kasten, Brownstown, IL; and Sisters-in-law - Sally & Shirley Behrends both of Brownstown, IL.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Wife and Brothers - John & Bill Behrends.
