Marion "Mirt" K. Torbeck, 77, of Vernon, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2019, in Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia, IL.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Vernon Cemetery, Vernon, IL, with Rev. Ryan Meyer officiating. Friends and family may gather at the cemetery at 12:30 P.M. He was born September 19, 1942, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Wallace C. & Audrey F. (Denning) Torbeck. Married Roslyn G. Meador, July 14, 1961, Hagarstown, IL. He was a Retired Police Officer (27 years) - St. Peter, Salem, Vandalia, and was former Chief of Police at Patoka, IL; also had worked at Allen's Furniture and Ace Hardware, both in Vandalia; and member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Augsburg, Rural Shobonier, IL. Mirt loved playing music all of his life, especially with the Seminary Band at the Seminary School House, Rural Pittsburg, IL; Fishing and hunting.

He is survived by: Wife - Rosie Torbeck, Vernon, IL; Son - Kent Lee Torbeck & Debbie, Shobonier, IL; Grandchildren - Braden and BreAnne Torbeck; Brother - Stephen "Steve" Torbeck & Patty, Shobonier, IL; Sister - Frances Cole & Keith, Vandalia, IL; Several Nephews & Nieces; and Beloved pet - Diggie. 

Preceded in death by: Parents; and Sister - Patricia "Patty" Schroedel.
