Donald "Don" M. Diveley, 89, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019, in Fayette County Hospital ER, Vandalia, IL.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 8, 2019, at Bethel Baptist Church, Vandalia, Illinois, with Dr. Ben Foxworth, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL, with Military Rites by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95, Vandalia, IL & Brownstown VFW Post 9770. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Monday, July 8, 2019, prior to the service, at the church. Memorials: Bethel Baptist Church, and/or Donor's Choice. He was born December 15, 1929, in Pontiac, IL, the son of Elvy E. & Mary Loretta (Galloway) Diveley. Elvy and Mary Loretta passed away when Don was an infant and he was raised by Roy & Lou Hampton. Married Shirley Ann Tate June 27, 1959, Vandalia, IL. He retired after 30 + years as a Supervisor at Crane Packing, Vandalia, IL.; U.S. Army, World War II Veteran serving in Germany; and member of Bethel Baptist Church, and American Legion Post #95, Vandalia, IL.
Don loved volunteering at Fayette Co. Hospital, wood working out in his shed, bowling, golfing and watching western shows.
He is survived by: Wife - Shirley Diveley, Vandalia, IL; Sons - Sam Diveley and Stan Diveley & Karen, all of Vandalia, IL and Mark Diveley, Winston Salem, NC.
Preceded in death by: Biological Parents; and the parents that raised him, Roy & Lou Hampton; Brother - Leroy Diveley; and Sisters - Loraine and Clara Mae.
