Charles "Kent" Merry, 81, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019, in Fayette County Hospital, LTC, Vandalia, IL.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 23, 2019, at First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Terry Westerfield, officiating. Burial will follow at First United Methodist Church Columbarium, Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 23, 2019, prior to the service, at the Church. He was born December 26, 1937, in Greenville, IL, the son of Luther R. & Mabel Ruth (Wells) Merry. Married Linda Lee Sisk, September 1, 1962, Greenville, IL, she passed away April 19, 2018. He worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections for over 35 years retiring as Assistant Warden of Operations, Vandalia, IL; US Air Force M.P. Veteran; and Member of First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, IL.

He is survived by: Son - Shawn Merry & Patricia, St. Charles, MO; Daughter - Shelly Huels, Carlyle, IL; Grandchildren - Mia, Alicia, Jenna, Hazel and Hayden; and Several Nephews & Nieces. 

Preceded in death by: Parents; Wife; Infant Son; 2 Daughters; and 1 Sister, Billie Louise Vieregge.
